BEREA, Ky.- The Belhaven Men's Basketball Team pulled off an impressive road win against the Berea Mountaineers.Â
The first half was not the ideal start the Blazers wished for as they found themselves behind 18-7 in the early minutes. Berea continued to dominate by extending their lead to as much as 13. The Blazers found the momentum they were searching for by going on a 12-2 run.
Neal Terry brought major energy off the bench as the sophomore connected on back-to-back dunks to cut the lead to three. Belhaven continued to ride the momentum and would enter the half down 36-34.
Jacob Reese led the Blazers in scoring with 10 points.Â
The second half was another slow start for Belhaven as Berea got out to a quick 10 point lead. The Blazers responded quickly as
Jermario Hersey scored six straight points to cut the lead to four. With less than eight minutes to go, Belhaven took control of the game by going on a commanding 11-0 run. The trio of Hersey, Reese, and Terry combined for 32 of the Blazers 43 points in the second half to take down Berea 77-66.Â
The Blazers were led by
Jermario Hersey, who finished with 20 points on a blistering 6-7 from the field.
Jacob Reese stole the show as the junior finished with 16 points and 22 rebounds which marks the second most in a game in program history.
Neal Terry played incredibly valuable minutes as he scored 15 points on 7-9 shooting and tied the single game block record with eight.Â
The Blazers will continue to be on the road as they face LaGrange on Wednesday, January 24. Tip-off will be at 6:30 PM.Â
