Belhaven Takes Down the Panthers in Dominating Fashion

JACKSON, Miss.- The Belhaven Women's Soccer team notched an impressive shutout victory over Birmingham-Southern on Tuesday as they took down their non-conference opposition 3-0 at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium.

The first half was a defensive stalemate for both teams with nobody seeming to pull ahead. Belhaven would take control  in the 35th minute as Emma Antonopolos curled an effort from the edge of the box and snuck it under the crossbar for the opener.

In the second half, Belhaven continued to have control over the match with their strong defensive presence. In the 66th minute, Belhaven doubled their lead in the 66th minute with a well-worked team goal finished off by a pinpoint cross from Kyla Shaw that Kaci Craft prodded home. Reagan Nichols netted the Blazers third in the 74th minute as Taylor Ford won the ball back in midfield before sending Nichols through on goal.

Belhaven improves to 6-2-1 on the season with Tuesday's dominant victory and keep their stellar home record intact improving to 4-0 at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium while outscoring opposition 18-0.

The Blazers will be back in action Saturday September 30th as they travel to Lookout Mountain, Georgia to face Covenant College in a much anticipate return to CCS play where Belhaven looks to improve to 4-0 in conference play.
