LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team continued their strong start to conference play this season as they took down Covenant 3-1 on Saturday.
Covenant would be the ones to get the early chances and the hosts took a lead in just the 9th minute putting the Blazers on the back foot quickly. Belhaven would respond in a big way though as
Kaci Craft was able to get an equalizer in the 26th minute, finding the far corner with a tight angle effort.Â
Less than five minutes later, the Blazers would take the lead through
Kyla Shaw as she headed home from an
Emma Antonoplos corner kick delivery. Shaw's 30th minute goal would send the Blazers into the half with a one-goal advantage.
The Blazers continued to control the match in the second half and would get their insurance goal just past the hour mark as
Kaci Craft broke through on goal and fired home for her second of the match.Â
The win propels Belhaven to a perfect 4-0 start to Collegiate Conference of the South play as they improve to 7-2-1 overall on the year.
Kaci Craft and
Kyla Shaw continue to pace the Blazers' goal-scoring efforts as their tallies today mean they both have five goals apiece on the year.Â
Belhaven returns to action on Thursday, October 5th as they travel to LaGrange for another CCS matchup. Kickoff against the Panthers is set for 5:00 PM CT.Â
