Belhaven Puts on Historic Display in 10-0 Rout of Tougaloo

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team put out a historic display on Monday as they put together a 10-0 rout of in-city rival Tougaloo College. The Blazers' ten goal display is tied for the most in a single match having happened on four separate occasions previously and the most since 2008.

The Blazers got the scoring started early at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium as Taylor Ford fired home a goal created through the Blazers' high press in just the second minute of play. In the sixth minute, Hayley Ruckle would double the Belhaven advantage after a miscue at the back for the visitors left the ball free in the box.

A spell of 20 minutes would go by before Belhaven would grab a third goal in the match through Rylee Reulet which slotted one home on an assist from Taylor Ford. That 24th minute goal would spark a scoring frenzy for the Blazers that included four goals in less than eight minutes.

Kyla Shaw came off the bench to make it a 4-0 lead in the 28th minute before another substitute, Lizbeth Eslava made it 5-0 just before the half hour mark. Lillian Cranford grabbed her first career goal in the 33rd minute on a breakaway before grabbing her second in the half in the 42nd minute.

It wouldn't be long after the second half began that the Blazers grabbed another goal, this time through Kelly McLaughlin who worked her way into the box and fired home with her right foot in the 55th minute.

Jensen Ward made it a 9-0 Belhaven lead in the 63rd minute, scoring on a rebounded effort and Jenny Satcher grabbed the 10th and final goal of the match in the 65th minute as Taylor Ford grabbed her third assist of the night.

The win pushes the Blazers to 3-2-1 on the season and they remain 1-0-0 in Collegiate Conference of the South play. The Blazers resume conference play on Wednesday as they head to Montgomery, AL to take on Huntingdon. Kick off against the Hawks is set for 6:00 PM.
