Jackson, Miss.- The Belhaven Volleyball team lost their final contest of the Millsaps Invitational to the University of Dallas.
The first set was very close all the way through and no team seemed to pull ahead. Towards the end of the set, Dallas took a 22-18 lead. The Blazers fought back and cut the lead to one. Despite this, Dallas came out on top and took the first set 25-22.
The second set was a repeat of the first set with both teams trading points early. In the midway point, Dallas started to pull ahead but the Blazers continued to push the tempo and fight from behind. After both teams tied at 22, Dallas gave one last push to the Blazers avail and won the set 25-22.
In the third set, Belhaven fell behind quickly 11-5 and Dallas continued to push ahead. Towards the end of the set, the Blazers made one last push and cut the lead to one. However, the comeback effort fell short and Belhaven lost the set 25-20.
Cailtin Torok and
Megan LaCour were spectacular in the kill department with Torok having 11 and LaCour giving out nine.
Aniyah Tompkins gave a great effort by dishing out 26 assists. The Blazers were led by
Aniyah Tompkins,
Kayla Robinson, and Cailtin Torok in digs with all of them giving out eight.
The Blazers will look to bounce back in their conference opener against LaGrange in Jackson on September 18 at 6:00 PM.
