MT. BERRY, Ga. - The Belhaven Softball team fell 2-0 to #2 Berry on Friday in the opening game of the Mt. Berry Super Regional. The Blazers, who are in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Softball Championship for a second straight year, will have to take both games in Saturday's doubleheader as they look to reach the final round of the tournament for the first time in program history.

Both teams went scoreless in the opening frame despite getting a baserunner each to open the contest. In the second inning, Belhaven got their lone hit of the game from Anna McNeer who came up with a two-out single but the Blazers were unable to push across a run. 

Berry opened the scoring in the bottom of the 3rd with a run on an RBI double. The Vikings then got another run in the bottom of the 4th inning and threatened for more with the bases loaded but the Blazers' defense was able to get out the inning without further damage.

Throughout the game though, the Blazers' offense struggled to get going, and outside of Anna McNeer's single in the 2nd, Belhaven was unable to muster another hit.

The Blazers and Vikings will square off again Saturday with a game at 12:00 PM Central with a second game scheduled for 2:30 PM Central if necessary. Belhaven will have to win both games on Saturday to advance past the Super Regional round.
