LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Allie Gordon of the Belhaven Softball team was named to the Tucci/NFCA Division III Player of the Year Watchlist on Thursday as her stellar 2023 campaign continues to garner national recognition.

The Junior has posted elite numbers so far this season as the Blazers sit 18-11 overall and 10-2 in conference action while leading the CCS standings. On the year, Gordon is hitting .457 across 94 at-bats producing a team-high 11 doubles, three triples and a joint team-leading four home runs. Gordon has an OPS of 1.242 and has produced 27 RBI, a high mark for the Belhaven team so far this season. 

Gordon has already picked up multiple weekly awards this season as those regionally and nationally continue to take notice of her year at the plate. On March 28th Gordon was named the Louisville Slugger DIII Player of the Week by the NFCA to go along with the Player of the Week award in the Collegiate Conference of the South.

The Macon, Georgia native is also setting some historic marks this season as she sees her career tallies near previous Belhaven highs. Having already become the program's all-time RBI leader this season, Gordon is within five doubles of the all-time Belhaven record and is within five home runs of the Belhaven record. 

Following their doubleheader sweep over #25 Piedmont the Blazers will turn their attention to rivalry action where they are set to face Millsaps on April 11th. 

NFCA Note on Awards

Voted on by the NFCA's Division III All-America Committee, the 2023 Tucci/NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year will be announced on June 9. All student-athletes are eligible for the end-of-the-season award and do not have to be on this list to be considered by the committee.

The Player of the Year award was created in 2016 to honor the outstanding softball achievement in NCAA Division III. In 2019, the Association expanded the award to include separate Player and Pitcher of the Year honors.
