BEREA, Ky. – The Belhaven Baseball team dropped Game 1 to Berea College by a score of 6-3. With two games left in the regular season, the Blazers fall to 18-16 (10-5 CCS).
The Mountaineers put two runs on the board in the opening frame to take an early lead. Three more in the 2nd extended Berea's advantage to 5-0.
The Blazers put up a crooked number in the top of the 4th following a two-run triple off the bat of Preston Conlee. He scored Belhaven's third run of the inning on a sacrifice fly from Aubrey Gathright.
The hosts pushed a run across in the 5th to make it 6-3. Despite a few scoring chances late for the Blazers, that score held for the remainder of the contest as Berea picked up the victory in the series opener.
