BEREA, Ky. - The Belhaven Baseball team bounced back from their series opening defeat to Berea College on Thursday evening to take both ends of their Friday doubleheader as they cruised past the Mountaineers to a pair of run-rule victories.
GAME ONE
The Blazers took the first game of the doubleheader and leveled the weekend series at 1-1 behind a 17-2 victory that showcased the potency of the Belhaven bats. The Blazers jumped on the hosts early with a run in the top of the 1st inning before opening the lead up further with a 5-run top of the 2nd inning.
In the 3rd inning
Matthew Charbonnet helped add to the Blazers' lead with a 3-run home run as he picked up his 3rd hit in as many innings. The Blazers made it a 10-0 lead in the 4th with a run on
Hunter Estes' RBI double before finally got on the board with a pair of runs in the same frame.
Belhaven would answer right back though as
Dawson Albin notched the Blazers 2nd home run of the game with a 2-run blast restoring BU's double digit lead. Belhaven added another 5 runs in the top of the 6th inning to take the 17-2 lead and after a pair of clean defensive innings, took the game in run-rule fashion.
