MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The Belhaven Baseball team capped off a perfect trip to Millington on Monday with victories over Westfield State and Alfred State. The Blazers cruised to an 11-1 run-rule win over the Owls before using a late rally in Game 2 to knock off the Pioneers 5-4.
GAME ONE
After a scoreless top of the first, Kyle McLaughlin, who led off with a double, came around to score courtesy of an RBI groundout from Dawson Albin. The Blazers created some separation in the 2nd after three Owl errors led to four runs.
As starter Beau Louviere continued to roll through the Westfield State lineup, McLaughlin followed a Matthew Charbonnet RBI single with one of his own to give Belhaven a 7-0 lead through three innings of play.
The Blazers' bats stayed hot in the 4th as Hunter Estes doubled to left to score Albin before coming to score on another Westfield State error. A bases-loaded walk put the Owls on the board in the 5th.
Belhaven ended things early in the 7th after Estes roped his second RBI double of the game to give the Blazers the 11-1 win.

The Pioneers used three straight hits in the 5th to push across a run and load the bases with nobody out, but relief pitcher Logan Goodreau was able to get out of the jam by striking out three Alfred State batters in a row to keep the score 3-1.
Belhaven finally broke through in the top of the 7th inning. After Preston Conlee and Nick Lucido reached via walks to start the inning, Matthew Charbonnet hit a sacrifice fly to center to cut the Pioneer lead to one.
Caleb Whittle delivered the biggest knock of the game, a two-out, two-run double into the right-center field gap to give Belhaven its first lead of the game. Dawson Albin greeted the new Pioneer pitcher with an RBI single to center to give the Blazers a 5-3 lead and an important insurance run.
Alfred State opened the 9th with a solo homer to left, but Jacob Doyle induced a 4-6-3 double play to get the save and give Belhaven a 5-4 win.
