LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Belhaven Men's and Women's Tennis teams each opened up the CCS slate with wins over LaGrange on Saturday in Georgia.
WOMEN'S
On the Women's side Belhaven knocked off the Panthers 7-2, with the only two losses coming from forfeits.
Judith Mills and
Evey Moore took the No. 1 Doubles match by a score of 8-1.
Lillian Williams and
Asia Robinson cruised to an 8-3 victory in No. 2 Doubles.
Mills picked up another win in singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win. Moore won her match 6-1, 6-3, while
Lily Grace,
Lillian Williams and
Asia Robinson each won their individual contests to seal the win for the Blazers.
MEN'S
The Belhaven Men took care of the Panthers 8-1 as
Gaspar Meda and
Bryce Livingston combined to take the top matchup 8-6.
Abraham Gonzalez and
Justin Humphrey took the No. 2 Doubles match 9-7 while
Jason Ball and
Mark Matviiev coasted to an 8-0 win in the final doubles match.
Meda won the top singles match 6-0, 6-2, and Gonzalez knocked off his Panther counterpart 6-0, 6-1. Livingston picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory while Matviiev won his 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Humphrey dropped a tough one 3-6, 6-1, 3-6. Ball and
Hayden Lassiter each cruised to victories in straight sets to round out the Blazers' wins.
The Blazers' tennis teams wrap up the Georgia road trip Monday, March 13th when they travel to Atlanta to take on Oglethorpe. Start time is set for 4 PM.
