MADISON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's and Women's Tennis teams each picked up a win on Wednesday as they hosted MUW for a midweek set of matches.
WOMEN
The Women took down the Mississippi University for Women on Wednesday in a closely contested matchup, 5-4. The Blazers were victorious in two of the three doubles matches as
Judith Mills and
Evey Moore combined to win the top pairing's matchup 8-1.
Lily Grace and
Lillian Williams also picked up a doubles win as they won their matchup 8-2.Â
In singles action, Belhaven picked up wins in three of the six matches as
Judith Mills won the top matchup 6-0, 6-0 while
Evey Moore outlasted her opposition in the second matchup 6-4, 2-6, 10-7.
Asia Robinson also got a singles victory on the day as she won her match 6-0, 6-1.Â
MEN
It was a clean sweep for the Blazers on the Men's side as they took down MUW 9-0 overall. In doubles action,
Bryce Livingston and
Justin Humphrey won their matchup 8-0 as did
Hayden Lassiter and
Cainan Black.
Jason Ball and
Mark Matviiev won their doubles match in convincing fashion as well 8-1.Â
In singles play for the Men the Blazers took all six matchups in strong fashion.
Gaspar Meda won the top singles matchup 6-0, 6-0 while and
Bryce Livingston matched that scoreline in the second pairing.
Mark Matviiev took the third matchup 6-1, 6-0 while
Jordan Paul outlasted his opposition in the fourth matchup 4-6, 7-5, 10-6.
Hayden Lassiter grabbed a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory and
Tom Borgioli finished his win with 6-2, 6-0 scoreline.Â
Both Belhaven Tennis teams will be back in action on March 8th when they play the return leg against Mississippi University for Women in Columbus.Â
