JACKSON, Miss.- The Belhaven Men's Basketball team took down the Millsaps Majors 93-70 in the Riverside Rivalry for the first time in two years.
At the start of the first half the Blazers jumped ahead to a quick 20-10 lead to gain the upper hand. Belhaven continued to push their lead out further as they took a 29-12 lead with 10 minutes left in the half. The Blazers continued to showcase their dominance for the rest of the half and went into halftime with a commanding 45-27 lead.
The second half began with Millsaps slowly cutting into the lead getting it down to 13 at one point. The Blazers responded well with a 10-3 run to take a 20 point lead with 14 minutes remaining. The Blazers continued to control the pace by extending their lead to 28 with less than five minutes left. The Blazers would end up taking home the victory in dominating fashion, taking down the Majors 93-70.
As a whole, the Blazers shot 45% from the field while also shooting 82.4% from the charity stripe. The Blazers were led by
Judah Jordan who finished with 19 points on 62.5% shooting.
Jordan Marshall also contributed to the Blazers offense with 16 as well as
Jermario Hersey adding in 15.
Jacob Reese continues to shine for Belhaven as he recorded his second double double in a row with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Belhaven will look to continue their hot start as they travel to Birmingham to face Sewanee in the BSC Black Tie Classic on Friday, November 17. Tip off will be at 5:00 PM.
