JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team cruised through the Quarterfinal round of the CCS Tournament on Saturday as they took down Berea 5-0 behind a first half hat trick from
Kyla Shaw.
It was a dominant performance from the opening whistle from the Blazers as
Kyla Shaw fired the home team in front in just the third minute with a long range effort that snuck into the net at the near post.
Shaw would make it a brace just six minutes later as she found herself in the right spot for a rebounded save that she smashed home for the Blazers' and her second. With just a quarter of an hour gone,
Kaci Craft made it a 3-0 lead as she created space for a tight finish.
Kyla Shaw would complete her hat trick in just the 20th minute as she headed home from a deflected Belhaven corner firing Belhaven four goals in front. The Blazers would then polish off the scoring barrage just before the half hour mark as
Taylor Ford sent
Lauren Snell through one-on-one with the goalkeeper and the midfielder gave Belhaven a 5-0 lead.
Belhaven utilized the lead as an opportunity to spread minutes around their squad and comfortably cruised in the second half despite not adding to their lead. With the win, Belhaven advances to the Semifinal round of the CCS Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. The Blazers will play host Covenant on Wednesday, November 1st. Time of kickoff at the Belhaven Bowl Stadium will be announced shortly.
