Blazers Split CCS Tri-Match at Home

 
JACKSON, Miss.- The Belhaven Volleyball team split their CCS Tri-Match at home against Weslyean and Covenant.
 
Belhaven came out on fire in the first set against the Wolves as they jumped out to a commanding 15-7 lead. The Blazers continued to control the rest of the set and comfortably took the set 25-14. In the second set, Belhaven once again got off to a quick start with a 10-4 lead. Wesleyan put together a valiant comeback effort and made the rest of the set a back-and-forth affair. Belhaven managed to pull through and survived the set 26-24.
 
Early in the third set, both teams kept it close as Belhaven led 7-5 at the start. The Blazers went on to make a breakthrough as they went on a 6-1 run. The Blazers dominated in the final moments and took home the victory 25-18.

Several Blazers made their impact offensively. Megan LaCour led Belhaven in kills with 10 alongside Rylee White who had seven and Cailtin Torok with six. Aniyah Tompkins led the Blazers in assists once again with 28 total. On defense, Megan LaCour and Emma Gardner paved the way with LaCour having 13 digs and Gardner with 12.

The first set against Covenant was a close affair. At the middle point of the set, Belhaven trailed Covenant 16-13. Unfortunately for Belhaven, the Scots went on a 9-2 run to take the set 25-15. In the second set Belhaven fell behind early 10-4. Covenant continued to push their lead further but the Blazers continued to hang on and cut the lead. Belhaven's comeback effort unfortunately fell short as they dropped the set 25-18.
In set three, Belhaven began to struggle as Covenant started the set on a 13-3 run. Belhaven continued to fight but it would not be enough as they fell 25-12.
 
The Blazers were led in kills by Caitlin Torok, who recorded four, and Kylarr Martin alongside Rylee White who both had three. Aniyah Tompkins led the way in assists with 13 on the day. On the defensive side of the net, Kayla Robinson paved the way for Belhaven with 17 digs.

The Blazers will look to finish the regular season strong as they face Millsaps on senior night at home. The match is set to take place at 6:30 PM.
