VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala.- The Belhaven Women's Soccer team closed the regular season in a battle with Sewanee that ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Blazers got on the board very quickly thanks to a penalty kick goal by
Kaci Craft in the second minute of the game. The Blazers put on a defensive clinic in the first half by controlling the pace and preventing Sewanee from getting on the board. The second half continued to be a grudge match for both sides. Unfortunately for the Blazers, Sewanee converted on a goal in the 70th minute to tie the match. Both teams battled until the very end and would end up with a 1-1 draw. Both teams were mostly stagnant on offense with Sewanee beating out the Blazers in shots on goal 7-3.
Julianne Wilson helped lead the defensive charge for Belhaven by providing six saves on the day.
Belhaven will return to play as they begin CCS postseason play in Jackson on Saturday, October 28 as they face Berea in round one. Match time is set at 4:00 PM.
