LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Belhaven Volleyball team secured a season CCS sweep in a dominant 3-0 win over the LaGrange Panthers on Thursday night at Richter Gymnasium.
Back-and-forth in the early going, the Blazers created some separation with a 4-0 run to take a 7-3 lead in the opening set. Belhaven did not look back as they were able to stretch the lead out to 20-10 before securing the first set, 25-15.
In the second set, the Blazers kept the momentum going by scoring the first six points. LaGrange battled back to draw within two, but the Blazers, led by
Kylarr Martin's five kills, dominated the middle portion of the set to cruise to a 25-13 set win.
The third set proved to be the most competitive with Belhaven looking to close things out and LaGrange vying for another set. The teams traded points early on, and it was tied 11-11 at the midway point.
At that point, the Blazers delivered the knockout punch, using an 8-1 run to take control and go up 19-12. Belhaven was able to withstand a late flurry by the Panthers and win the set, 25-19, to secure an important road win.
