JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team was beaten in a heartbreaker on Saturday by Maryville College by an 84-83 scoreline.
Maryville started the game on the front foot with four of their first five made baskets coming from beyond the arc. The Blazers struggled to get going on the offensive side of the ball and the visitors ran up a 15-point lead in just under seven minutes of action.
Belhaven stayed resilient though and worked to trim the first half deficit back down getting the game inside of double-digits with just over 10 minutes to go in the half. With just over seven minutes to go in the half the Blazers worked the Scots' lead down to a single point before the visitors quickly pushed back out in front by double-digits. The end of the half ended with the Blazers grabbing some momentum as
Jordan Marshall hit a transition three to cut the deficit to six at the break.
The second half followed a similar script with Belhaven work to close the gap but Maryville doing well to keep the Blazers are arms length. With just under four minutes to play the Scots led by 10 points but Belhaven methodically trimmed the difference.
With a little under two minutes to go Belhaven had made it a one possession game and with 20 seconds to go
Judah Jordan put Belhaven on top 83-82. Maryville though would go down the floor and grab the game winner with 2 seconds left.
Belhaven was led by

Judah Jordan added 19 points on 6-10 shooting and
Luke Couch posted 15 points while shooting 3-4 from beyond the arc. Freshman
