JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Women's Soccer team played host to LeTourneau on Thursday night, battling the Yellow Jackets to a scoreless draw. Both teams had several chances throughout but were unable to net a goal.
Belhaven's best chance in the first half came in the 37th minute as
Kyla Shaw's shot was knocked away by the LeTourneau keeper.
The Blazers had a couple of shots on target late but could not come away with a score.
Macy Mathers' shot in the 76th minute was deflected away to a waiting
Hayley Ruckle, who fired a shot in the box just off the mark.
Shaw took a last-second shot from 40 yards out, but the Yellow Jackets' goalkeeper made the save to secure the draw.
The Blazers dominated in terms of opportunities, outshooting the Yellow Jackets 13-5. Five of the 13 Belhaven shots were on goal. LeTourneau finished with just two shots on goal.
It is a quick turnaround for Belhaven, as the Blazers will be back in action Saturday, September 10 at Birmingham-Southern. The match is set to begin at 1 PM.
