JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Men's Soccer team couldn't complete the comeback Saturday afternoon, dropping a 4-2 decision to Berea College. The Blazers fall to 3-3-3 (0-1-0 CCS) on the season.
The Mountaineers seized control early behind two goals in the first 10 minutes. The Blazers tightened up for the remainder of the half but saw a couple of scoring opportunities slip away.
Berea delivered the knockout punch midway through the second 45 thanks to a pair of goals in the 69th and 70th minutes to go up 4-0.
Belhaven did not quit, however, as Christian Hernandez scored the Blazers' first goal of the game in the 76th minute.
Igor Rudolph added his third goal of the 2022 campaign in the 89th minute to close the gap, but it was too little too late for the Blazers as Berea walked away with the win.
The Green and Gold return to the pitch Wednesday, September 28th when they travel to Hendrix College. The match is slated to begin at 5 PM in Conway.
