MARYVILLE. Tenn. – The Belhaven Women's Soccer team fell to Maryville College in Thursday night's CCS opener by a final of 2-0. The Blazers couldn't quite get into a rhythm after falling behind early in the contest.
The Scots delivered the first blow with a goal in the 7th minute. Maryville found the net again late in the first half to take a 2-0 lead after the first 45.
The Blazers had several chances in the final 10 minutes to cut into the Scots' lead but were unable to connect. Despite the loss, the Blazers owned the shots-on-goal advantage by a 7-5 margin.
Julianne Wilson finished the night with three saves.
Belhaven looks to bounce back on Saturday, September 24th when they take on Piedmont in CCS play. Kickoff from Demorest, Georgia is slated for 9:30 AM.
