JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Men's Soccer team came away victorious Tuesday night at Belhaven Bowl Stadium, outlasting Centenary College by a final of 3-2. The Blazers got back in the win column after Saturday's last-minute loss to East Texas Baptist.
Belhaven struck first in the 20th minute when
John Tolliver outran the Gents' defense and beat the keeper to net his first goal of the season. The Blazers extended their lead just two minutes later when
Julian Carreira scored on a great cross from
Aleksander Harris.
Centenary got on the board in the 34th minute to cut the Belhaven lead in half. After a red card was given to Carreira, the Gents seized the momentum with an equalizer early in the second half.
With the score tied at two, the Green and Gold would find the back of the net as
Igor Rudolph connected with a header with 14 minutes remaining. Centenary had a few chances late, but the Blazers kept them out of the goal to win a 3-2 thriller.
Belhaven was efficient on the offensive end, scoring on all three of their shots-on-goal.
Belhaven will travel to Memphis tomorrow afternoon for a matchup with the Rhodes College Lynx. The match will begin at 4 PM.
