LONGVIEW, Texas – The Belhaven University volleyball team fell in straight sets to the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets in non-conference play.

In the opening set, the Blazers fell behind early as the Yellowjackets took the 10-6 lead midway through the first set. Belhaven continued to fight, but LeTourneau never trailed in the first set to earn the 25-13 first set victory.

The Blazers struggled to gain any momentum as they fell behind 8-1 early on in the second set. Belhaven cut the lead to five points late in the match, but the Yellowjackets went on to seal the second set by a final score of 25-14. The Yellowjackets took the third and final set by a final set score of 25-7 and took the match 3-0 in Longview,Texas.

Caitlin Torok and Rylee White led the Blazers with three kills, while Miriam Ateca totaled 12 assists in the match. Defensively, Ellie Jones finished the match with two blocks and Paige Broussard posted six digs.

The Blazers will return to play on Friday, September 2 against Pacific University and Austin College in the Austin College / University of Dallas Tournament. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
