CLINTON, MIss. – The Belhaven Baseball team earned two wins against The W Owls in non-conference action. The Blazers took game one of the doubleheader by a final score of 7-3 and took the nightcap by a final score of 10-8 at Frierson Field on the campus of Mississippi College. With the sweep, the Blazers improve to 18-11 overall.
GAME ONE
In the first game of the afternoon it was MUW who struck first in the top of the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead. The Blazers answered in the bottom of the inning scoring a run off of a bases loaded walk to even the score at 1.
In the fourth inning, Belhaven bats came to life and scored five runs to extend their lead to 6-1. It was a bases loaded hit-by-pitch by
Nick Lucido to give the Blazers the first run of the inning. A 2-RBI Double by
Dawson Albin and a 2-RBI Single from
Chase Kitchens in the inning gave BU the commanding 6-1 lead.
MUW cut the lead to 6-3 in the top of the fifth inning, but the Blazers added another run in the sixth off of a throwing error by the catcher to make the score 7-1.
The Blazers took the seven inning contest and game one of doubleheader by a final score of 7-3 in non-conference play.

GAME TWO
In the second game of the day and the nightcap of the doubleheader, the Blazers got off to a hot start by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom half of the second inning,
Nick Lucido doubled to right field that scored McLaughlin to extend the lead to 4-0.
Dawson Albin kept the inning alive after a RBI single to left field to give the Green and Gold the five run advantage.
In the fourth inning,
Nick Lucido hit a RBI single that scored
Kyle McLaughlin and Lucido came around to score on a throwing error by the pitcher to give the Blazers the 7-0 lead. Still in the fourth inning, BU tacked on two more runs in the inning to take a commanding 9-0 lead going into the fifth inning.
Nick Lucido earned another RBI in the contest with a single that scored
Max Licciardi to give the Blazers a 10 run lead.
MUW came up in the top of the sixth inning and scored seven runs to cut the lead to 10-7 in the second game of the doubleheader. The Owls tacked on another run in the top of the seventh to make the score 10-8. Both teams were scoreless for the remainder of the ballgame as the Blazers defeated the Owls 10-8 to take game two and the doubleheader sweep.
