JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Softball team defeated the Millsaps College Majors 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference play to get the sweep of the Majors in the 2022 season. The Blazers are now 23-4 overall and 15-3 in conference play.

The Blazers got the scoring started in the top of the 1st inning off of a RBI single by Allie Gordon and an error on Millsaps to give the Blazers the 2-0 advantage. Still in the first inning, the Blazers scored another run on a passed ball and concluded the scoring in the first inning with a RBI single by Sydney Runnels to give BU the 4-0 in the first. Belhaven tacked on another run in the top of the 2nd inning with a RBI double by Allie Gordon that scored Haley Hanson from first base to give the Blazers the 5-0 lead. 

The Blazers and Majors were held scoreless in the third inning, but the Blazers scored two additional runs in the top half of the 4th inning to give the Green and Gold the 7-0 advantage. After a scoreless 5th inning, Millspas broke up the shutout and scored two runs in the sixth, but he Blazers still led 7-2. The Blazers held on to defeat the Majors by a final score of 7-2.

The Blazers will return to action on Friday, April 8 for a doubleheader against the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets in Longview, Texas. The first pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m.
