CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Belhaven Softball team continued American Southwest Conference play on Friday as they took on the Univerisity of the Ozarks in a doubleheader on the first day of their three-game series. The Blazers took game one by a final score of 3-2 and won the second game 3-1. The Blazers improve to 30-5 overall and 22-4 in American Southwest Conference play.

GAME ONE

In the series opener, Belhaven jumped out to a lead in the top of the second inning when Macy Ziskin hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Kennedy Carruth from third base to grab the 1-0 advantage. After three scoreless frames, the Blazers added two runs insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning when Abby Trahan hit a 2-RBI double to right center field that scored Macy Ziskin and Haley Hanson. 

Leading 3-0 going into the final frame, the Blazers could not plate a run in the seventh, but the Eagles scored two runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Belhaven went on to take the series opener by a final score of 3-2. As a team, the Blazers scored three runs on eight hits and one error during the contest.

GAME TWO

In the second game of the twinbill, Ellie Jones delivered a RBI single in the top of the first inning to give the Blazers the early 1-0 lead. Carley ingle extended the Blazers' lead on a RBI groundout that scored Macy Ziskin from third base, however the Eagles cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom half the second inning. 

Marlee Blackwell belted a RBI double in the top of the third inning that plated Ellie Jones to give Belhaven the 3-1 advantage. Both teams were held scoreless for the rest of the contest as the Blazers take the series 2-0 and the game 3-1. Belhaven will look to sweep the three game series on Saturday.
