ABILENE, Texas - The Belhaven Softball team finished off their weekend in Abilene with a decisive victory in the season finale which also ensured Belhaven leaves Texas with the series win.
The Blazers started the game with a fast start scoring twice in the first inning with a pair of solo home runs.
Allie Gordon opened the scoring with a home run, her 8th of the season, and
Ellie Jones made it back-to-back homers on a solo shot of her own, her 5th home run on the year.
McMurry answered in the bottom of the 2nd with a run on a double that cut the Blazers' lead down to 2-1. The Belhaven bats got the run right back in the top of the 3rd on
Ellie Jones sac fly which restored the two run advantage. In the bottom of the 4th inning the hosts tied the game with a pair of runs on two bases loaded walks.Â
Once again Belhaven responded in the 5th inning when pitcher
Kennedy Carruth helped her own cause with a two-run home run, her third of the season. Leading 5-3 after five innings, Belhaven added an insurance run on
Abby Trahan's RBI single before striking for four runs in the 7th to ice the game.
Anna McNeer's sac bunt opened the scoring in the 7th and then
Abby Trahan delivered an RBI double that scored a run.
Haley Hanson capped the frame with an RBI single that scored a pair of runs for the Blazers.Â
