JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Softball team took both games of the doubleheader against Sul Ross State University with a 6-1 win in the first game and a 9-0 shutout run rule victory in the second game of the day.
GAME ONE
In the first game of the day, the Blazers fell behind early on a RBI Double to give the visitors the 1-0 advantage. Sul Ross maintained the lead until the fourth inning.

The Blazers bats came to life in the bottom of the fourth when
Haley Hanson had a 2 RBI Double to take the 2-1 lead.
Allie Gordon followed up with a RBI Double to extend their lead to 3-1.
Kennedy Carruth then stepped up to the plate and blasted a RBI Double to center field to give the Blazers the 4-1 lead. Two back-to-back RBI singles by
Ellie Jones and
Sydney Runnels gave Belhaven the 6-1 advantage.

 The Blazers and Lobos held each other scoreless for the remainder of the contest as the Blazers took the 6-1 victory and captured the series.

GAME TWO
The Blazers followed up the first game of the day with a run-rule victory in five innings. The Blazers held the Lobos at bay for the entire contest by only giving up one hit in the game.

Marlee Blackwell opened up the bottom of the first inning with a leadoff single and
Allie Gordon blast a 2-Run Homer to right center to give the Blazers the early 2-0 advantage. The Blazers nor the Lobos scored a run in the second as the score remained 2-0 headed into the third frame. After
Marlee Blackwell drew a leadoff walk,
Rylee Landreaux came on to pitch-run for Blackwell. Two batters later,
Kennedy Carruth hit a two-run shot to left field to extend the lead to 4-0.

With back-to-back 2-RBI doubles by
Haley Hanson and
Allie Gordon the Green and Gold took the 8-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Ellie continued to have quality at-bats and drove in the final run of the game for the Blazers in the bottom of the fourth. Following a scoreless four inning start from
Gracey Baucom,
Dallas Blaker was able to slam the door shut in the final frame to extend the Belhaven win streak out to 17 games. The Blazers went on to take game two of the doubleheader by a final score of 9-0 and swept the Lobos in three games.
