JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University softball team extended their winning streak to 15 games after a 5-0 win over the Sul Ross State University Lobos at Jim McLeod Field. With the win, the Blazers improve to 16-1 overall and 9-1 in conference play.
The Blazers got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning when
Macy Ziskin hit an RBI single to score
Sydney Runnels to give the Blazers the early 1-0 lead.
Abby Trahan scored on an error by the catcher to bring the score to 2-0. Belhaven continued to score in the second inning with a RBI single from
Marlee Blackwell to extend the lead to 3-0. Carruth drove home the final run of the frame off of a fielder's choice to make the 4-0.
Belhaven added another run in the bottom of the third as the Blazers held the Lobos scoreless for the rest of the contest. The Blazers had two hits in the fourth and the sixth, but could not bring the runs home. Belhaven went on to defeat Sul Ross by a final score of 5-0. As a team, the Blazers had 13 hits on five runs and one error.
