ALPINE, Texas - The Belhaven Baseball team took both ends of their Friday doubleheader against Sul Ross State knocking off the hosts 9-6 in Game One before posting a historic 23-11 win in the following contest. 

GAME ONE

In the series opener on Friday afternoon the Blazers took an early lead over the Lobos with a run in the Top of the 1st inning on an RBI single from Adam Leonard. Belhaven found themselves trailing after two frames though when the hosts put up three runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. In the top of the 3rd the Blazers retook the lead with a pair of runs on Dawson Albin's RBI double and then added another in the 4th on an RBI hit from Gabe Inman.

The Blazers opened a gap in the game with four runs in the 6th inning capped by an RBI double from Adam Leonard before grabbing an extra run for insurance in the 7th frame from Hunter White's RBI base hit. The hosts worked to find a route back into the contest and grabbed three runs in the final inning of the 7-inning contest but Belhaven held on for the series opening win.

GAME TWO

The Blazers' offense put up historic numbers in the second game of the doubleheader opening up the contest with five runs in the top of the 1st inning and leading 5-1 after just one frame. In the 4th inning Belhaven started a four-inning streak of multi-run frames with three runs scored including a pair on Dawson Albin's RBI double. 

Belhaven then struck for four runs in the 5th including a run scored each on back-to-back doubles by Chase Kitchens and Gabe Inman. Belhaven tacked on six runs in the 6th inning taking advantage of a pair of Lobos' errors and also stringing together hits in the top half of the order. 

To ice the game and finish with what would be the highest scoring game of Belhaven's NCAA DIII Era and the highest for the program since 2009 the Blazers added five runs in the 7th inning which was highlighted by Dawson Albin's two-out grand slam which put Belhaven in front 23-2. The Lobos would close the gap in the bottom of the 9th but in the end the BU output was too much to handle and the Blazers were able to clinch the conference series. In the game, the Blazers saw every member of their starting lineup score at least one run.
