JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University Women's Basketball team fell 97-55 on the road at Millsaps College in non-conference play. With the loss, the Blazers fall to 3-2 on the season.
After a slow start by both teams, the hosts took the 18-11 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play. The Blazers were outshot 13-8 in the second quarter after a late three pointer as Millsaps lead 31-19 at the break.
To open the third quarter, the Blazers struggled to get the offense going as the Majors extended their lead to 20 points by the end of the third quarter. Millsaps continued to shoot well from the floor as the Green and Gold fell 97-55 at Millsaps.
Ebony Gayden led the Blazers with 17 points, seven rebounds, and shot 7-for-12 from the field.
Shantashia John totaled 12 points and led the team with three steals.
Shomaria Overton finished the contest with 10 points and two assists.
As a team, the Blazers shot 32.2 percent from the field and 68 percent from the charity stripe.
The Blazers will look to bounce back on Saturday, December 10th against the Pensacola Christian College Eagles on the road. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m.
