JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team was beaten in the final game of 2022 on Saturday as they fell to non-conference opponent, East Texas Baptist University, 94-57.

The Blazers and the Tigers opened up the game with back and forth scoring as both teams settled into an uptempo style. Belhaven held the lead early on capitalzing on quick transition scoring and baskets around the rim.

However the visitors continued to pressure Belhaven on both ends of the floor and eventually the Tigers' points off Belhaven turnovers pushed them into the lead. The Blazers trailed 49-33 at the halftime interval and opened the second half on a quick scoring run to close the gap.

The early second half run wouldn't be enough though as the Tigers pulled away once again and took down the Blazers in Belhaven's final game of 2022.

Jordan Marshall led the Blazers in scoring with 10 points on 50% shooting while Luke Couch finished the game with nine points. As a team the Blazers shot 40.7% from the floor and 26.3% from three.

Now Belhaven turns their attention to the new year and conference play. The Blazers are back in action Tuesday, January 3rd when they host Huntingdon in CCS action. Tip against the Hawks is set for 4 PM.
