Men's Basketball Tops Huntingdon 88-69

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team opened up the new calendar year with an impressive showing on Tuesday night, defeating CCS foe Huntingdon 88-69 at Rugg Arena. The win moves the Blazers above .500 at 6-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Belhaven handled the Hawks from the tip. After a Huntingdon basket tied things up at six with 17 minutes in the first half, the Blazers used a 10-2 run to take control. A strong close to the first half gave Belhaven a 40-30 lead heading into the halftime break.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Matthew McMillan gave the Blazers their biggest lead of the game at 59-46, and Huntingdon could only get within nine the rest of the way. Belhaven finished on a 6-0 run to walk away with a dominant 88-69 victory over the Hawks. The win snapped a two-game losing streak to Huntingdon and was the Blazers' first win over the Hawks since December 13th, 2016.

Jordan Marshall led the Blazers with a game-high 24 points and seven rebounds in 32 minutes. Luke Couch finished with 19 points and nine boards in his second game back for the Blazers. Judah Jordan and Martavin McWilliams also finished in double figures with 12 and 10, respectively.

Belhaven returns to action Friday, December 6th for their first road CCS matchup of the season. The Blazers will travel to the Bluegrass State to take on Berea at 6 PM.
