JACKSON, Miss. –
Ebony Gayden of the Belhaven Women's Basketball team and
Neal Terry of the Belhaven Men's Basketball team have been named the C Spire Athletes of the Week following their performances over the past week.
Gayden, along with
Xhiir Burgess, continues to anchor the Blazers' frontcourt this season. Gayden recorded a pair of double-doubles over the past week. The junior from McComb, Miss. put up 14 points and 11 rebounds in Saturday's win over Pensacola Christian. She followed that performance up with a 12-point, 11-rebound, five-steal stat line in Tuesday's one-point loss to Piedmont. On the year, Gayden is averaging 11.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
Terry had a breakout game in Tuesday night's comeback win over Piedmont in the conference opener. The freshman forward poured in a season-high 14 points on 5-of-7 from the floor, a season-high 16 rebounds, and four blocks. Terry is quickly establishing himself as an elite rim protector with his CCS-leading 21 blocked shots.
Gayden returns to action Friday, December 16th as Belhaven travels to Decatur, Georgia to take on CCS foe Agnes Scott. Tipoff is set for 4 PM.
Terry and the Men's team will host Southeastern Baptist College on Friday, December 16th. Tipoff from Rugg Arena is slated for 6 PM.
