MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Belhaven University Men's Basketball team was beaten by Rhodes College on Friday evening in the opening day of the Rhodes Thanksgiving Classic by a final score of 70-55.

Jordan Marshall led the Blazers in the opening minutes of the first half, scoring eight of the first 12 points for the Green and Gold. The Lynx held the 17-12 advantage heading into the under 12 media timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the hosts went on 6-0 run to extend their lead to 11 points.

The Blazers did not back down from the challenge as they went on a 16-2 run to close out the first half. Belhaven regained and took the 28-25 advantage going into the halftime break.

Rhodes went on a 14-0 run to open the second half as the Lynx regained an 11 point advantage. The Lynx continued to shoot well from the floor and extended their lead to as many as 22 points late in the contest. Rhodes went on to capture the 70-55 victory over the Blazers in Day One of the Rhodes Thanksgiving Classic.

Jordan Marshall led the Blazers with 26 points and went 10-for-19 from the field. Donovan Givens posted nine points and had a team-high six rebounds in the contest. In just 11 minutes on the floor, Charleston Wallace shot 66.6 percent from behind the arc and totaled seven points.

The Blazers will return to action on Saturday, November 19 against Spalding University in the Rhodes Thanksgiving Classic. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
