Women’s Soccer Scores Six Goals in Shutout Victory over LaGrange

JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University women's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 shutout victory over conference foe LaGrance College on Saturday afternoon inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium. With the win, the Blazers improve to 5-5-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.

The Blazers dominated from the start of the match to the final whistle. Emma Antonoplos got the scoring started for the Blazers, finding the back of the net in the 7th minute of play. Emma's goal was assisted by Haley Ruckle to give the Blazers the early 1-0 advantage.  

Lauren Snell made it 2-0 for the Blazers in the 15th minute when she drilled a shot that found the back of the net. The Blazers' offense continued to be on fire, as Haley Ruckle scored her fourth goal of the season to earn the 3-0 lead. Belhaven scored one more goal before the half when Anna Crane found the back of the net in the 40th minute of play.

Coming out of halftime break, the Blazers scored an additional goal when Lauren Snell scored her second goal of the contest to extend the Blazers' lead to 5-0. The Green and Gold continued to push the tempo as Haley Ruckle found the net for her second goal in the match. The Panthers had an opportunity to score late in the contest, but the Blazers held on to earn the 6-0 shutout victory over the Panthers.

Lauren Snell and Haley Ruckle finished the match with two goals in the contest, while Anna Crane and Emma Antonoplos concluded the match with a goal apiece.

Julianne Wilson played in the first half of the contest and registered one save. Lauren Knorr finished the match for the Blazers in goal and posted three saves.

As a team, the Blazers outshot the Panthers 19-4 and Belhaven earned nine shots on-goal in the match.

The Blazers will return to action on Thursday, October 13 against Agnes Scott in Conference play in Decatur, Ga. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
