JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Soccer team fell 1-0 in their late season rivalry match against Millsaps on Tuesday despite a late pushthat saw them generate plenty of pressure.

It was Belhaven who controlled the early portion of the match creating attacking pressure and a couple of half chances in search of the opener. The Blazers couldn't find a breakthrough though and the visitors were able to get the opener after a deflection in the BU penalty earea dropped to a Millsaps' attacker. 

Leading after half an hour, Millsaps was able to keep Belhaven at bay for the remainder of the first half with the Blazers struggling to create clear-cut opportunities. In the second half the Blazers took control of the match putting plenty of pressure on the Millsaps' goal.

After generating two shots on target in the first half Belhaven would tally eight in the second half but strong goalie play and a couple of shots that deflected off the cross bar kept Belhaven out of the back of the net. 

In total the Blazers outshot Millsaps 21-2 and 10-1 in chances on target but the lone Majors' goal proved to be the difference in the match.

Belhaven will now turn their attention to MUW on Thursday as they travel to Columbus to face the Owls at 5 PM. That precedes a CCS Quarterfinal matchup against Huntingdon which the Blazers will host on Saturday at 5 PM.
