JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Women's Soccer team battled to the end on Saturday but ultimately fell to Covenant 1-0. The Scots scored the game's lone goal in the 88th minute to secure the CCS win.
Belhaven had opportunities in the first half but unfortunately could not convert. The Blazers finished with three shots-on-goal in the opening frame to Covenant's one.
Early in the second half, goalkeeper
Julianne Wilson came up big for the Blazers, stopping two scoring chances from the Scots to keep the game scoreless. Belhaven continued to apply the pressure midway through the final 30 minutes, just missing three shots in the 63rd, 64th, and 72nd minutes.
After a missed shot by the Blazers, Covenant went on the attack and was able to find the back of the net with just two minutes remaining in the game. Belhaven failed to make one final run to draw even, and the visitors walked away with the victory.
Belhaven finished with eight shots-on-target, to just four for Covenant. Wilson had three saves in goal for the Blazers. Following the match, Belhaven Women's Soccer honored five seniors from the 2022 squad. Those seniors were

Emily Easterling,
Anna Crane,
Lauren Samford, and
Laela Evans.
Belhaven finishes up the regular season Tuesday night against Millsaps in the Riverside Derby. Kickoff is set for 5 PM from the Belhaven Bowl Stadium. The Blazers are then set to host a CCS quarterfinal match next Saturday, October 29th.
