MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Belhaven University men's soccer team defeated Huntingdon College 1-0 on the road in a critical conference matchup on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Blazers improve to 5-5-4 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play.

James Dempsey found the back of the net in 7^th minute of the match on a cross from Kagoma Egide to give the Green and Gold the early 1-0 lead. The Blazers' offense was firing on all cylinders in the opening 45 minutes of play as Belhaven outshot Huntingdon 12-2 in the first half. The Blazers held on to the 1-0 advantage to go into the halftime break.

Coming out of the halftime break, the visitors picked up the tempo early on in the second half but could not find the back of the net. The Blazers' defense played a stellar match keeping the hawks off of the scoreboard. Belhaven picked up the 1-0 victory over Huntingdon to earn a conference win.

James Dempsey scored the lone goal in the contest, while Christian Hernandez finished the match with five total shots. Goalkeeper Danny Bahena got the start in-goal for the Blazers and posted four saves in the match. As a team, the Blazers outshot the Hawks 17-10 and registered eight shots on-goal.

The Blazers will return to action on Saturday, October 15 against LaGrange College in a conference matchup. Kickoff inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
