JACKSON, Miss- The Belhaven women's soccer team tied with McMurry University Warhawks on Saturday afternoon with a 2-2 final score inside Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
The Warhawks first found the back of the net in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 advantage and kept Belhaven scoreless until the second half.Â
The Blazers were able to tie the match in the 46th minute from a penalty kick goal from Kyla Shaw. Lauren Samford increased the Blazers led as she earned her first goal of the year in the 72nd minute to make the score 2-1. However, McMurry's Haleigh Ray score almost immediately after in the 73rd minute to tie the match. Â
Both teams had opportunities to score in the second half, but neither team could find the back of the net at the end of regulation as the score remained 2-2, heading into overtime.
McCurry tailed two shots in the first overtime period while Belhaven had four shots, but none were good enough to decide a winner, which enforced second overtime.
 The following 10 minutes were not enough to decide a winner in the match as the Warhawks and Blazers finished with a final score of 2-2.Â
Sophomore Kyla Shaw led the Blazers with six shots and one goal. Goalkeeper Lauren Knorr finished with six saves and played all 110 minutes.
The Green and Gold had fourteen total shots, with nine on-goal shots in the contest.
Belhaven will return to the field on Thursday, September 30, against Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.Â
