ABILENE, Texas - The Belhaven Volleyball team was beaten on the road on Friday night by Hardin-Simmons in straight sets.
In the match, the hosts jumped out to an early lead with a decisive victory in the first set, knocking off Belhaven by a score of 25-13. Despite the first set loss, Belhaven competed well in the second set of the match. The Blazers battled with Hardin-Simmons and made a late run in the set that forced the Cowgirls to win by a score of 26-24.
In the third and final set, Belhaven took an early lead, fighting to push the match further along. The hosts were able to come from behind though and edge out a 25-21 set win to take the match.
For the Blazers, the offense was spread between a few Blazers with
Emily Carroll,
Emma Gardner and
Ellie Jones all posting five kill performances.
Grace Eidson provided 21 assists on the night to lead the Belhaven squad. Defensively,
Lilliana Marlowe led the squad with 11 digs while
Sara Scott posted eight digs on the day.
The Blazers will continue their road trip on Sunday when they face Concordia University in Austin, Texas before taking on UMHB on Monday night.
