JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Blazers (2 - 3 - 1) were held scoreless for just the second time this season in their ASC home opener against the Hardin-Simmons University Cowboys (2 - 4) with the final score being 1-0.
The Blazers started the contest hot, smothering any opportunity that the Cowboys had while creating chances of their own. However, the game would be scoreless going into halftime.
Striving to gain momentum, both sides fought tirelessly to see out a winning result. In a game where one moment could be the difference, both teams just needed one spark of quality to tilt the match into their favor.
Unfortunately, that moment came just 20 seconds into the first overtime period for the opposing side. "We are unlucky not to get a result from the match," states Coach Gleddy, "The lads put in a good team performance. We must keep our heads high as we have another match coming up Saturday.
The Blazers finished the game outshooting the Cowboys with 7 shots vs the Cowboys' 6 shots. The Blazers will be back in the Bowl Saturday September 25th at 3:30pm to take on McMurry University.
