SHREVEPORT, La. – The Belhaven University women's soccer team picked up another shutout victory on Saturday against the Schreiner University in non-conference play. With the win, the Blazers move to 4-1 on the season.
Kyla Shaw got the Blazers on the board after she found the back of the net in the 3rd minute. The Blazers had other opportunities to score additional goals in the first half, but the green and Gold could not fins the back of the net. The score remained at 1-0 going into the halftime break.
The Blazers' defense continued to shine in the second half, as Belhaven limited the Mountaineers to just five shots. Belhaven and Schreiner would continue to play physical as three yellow cards were given out in the second half. Belhaven would go on to defeat Schreiner University by a final score of 1-0.
In the match, the Green and Gold outshot the Mountaineers 16-7 and held them to just one shot on-goal. Kyla Shaw led the Blazers with four shots and one goal, while Anna Crane finished the match with three shots with one being on goal.
The Blazers will return to the field on Tuesday, September 21 against Austin College inside the Belhaven Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
