SHREVEPORT, La. - The Belhaven Men's Soccer squad show resilience to down Schreiner University 2-1 in double overtime. With the win, the Blazers improve to 2-2 overall.
When situations do not go your way, it is easy to hang your head in disbelief. Difficult circumstances make circumstances even more challenging. It takes resilience to see out a result, and the Blazers displayed that today.
Defender Aleksander Harris began the scoring with a bullet of a header for the Blazers in the 27th minute of the first half, which was assisted by yet another Brady Jacobs' free-kick. Schreiner University would respond with a goal of their own 10 minutes later.
As the game progressed, overtime was inevitable. Belahven needed a spark, so Forward Dalton Morgan took matters into his own hands to score another game-winner in the 115th minute.
"It's never easy playing a game on back-to-back days." Morgan states, "But we showed character and saw the game out as a team. It wasn't our best performance, but we were able to get the result we deserved."
Dalton Morgan earns another Man of the Match performance. However, Brady Jacobs continues to display his eye for a pass and a goal as he now has 5 goal contributions in 4 games.
"My goal contributions are mostly assists," Brady states, "And that's a testament to the quality of the team. We're finishing our chances when it matters and we will only improve as the season goes on."
The Blazers secured their first road win of the 2021 season as they recorded 19 shots on the day. Goalkeeper Max Rudolph gets his second win of the season. The Blazers will return to action Monday, September 20th at 7:00 as they will take on Millsaps College for the Battle of Riverside
