SHREVEPORT, La. - The Belhaven University women's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Centenary College Ladies on Friday evening in non-conferece play. With the win, the Blazers improve to 3-1 overall.
The Blazers and Ladies went back and forth in the first half taking five shots and both keepers had two saves apiece. At the end of the first half, the Blazers and Ladies were all knotted up at 0-0 .
The Blazers came out of the break firing on all cylinders as the Green and Gold scored three goals. Junior Midfielder Anna Crane got the Blazers on the board first when she found the back of the net in the 60th minute. Additionally, the Pearl, Miss. Native scored the second goal for the Blazers to extend the lead to 2-0 in the 68th minute. The final goal of the match came in the 78th minute when Laela Evans drilled a shot past the keeper to seal the victory for the Blazers.
Belhaven outshot the Ladies 11-7 and goalkeeper Julianne Wilson played 90 minutes in goal and picked up 3 saves.
The Blazers will return to the field on Saturday, September 18th in a matchup with Schreiner University in non-conference action. Kick off is set for 2:00 p.m.
