Blazers Comeback Falls Short in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Belhaven University men's soccer team dropped a close contest on the road against Centenary College Gents by the score of 2-1.

Competitiveness and intensity described the match on a late night in Shreveport, Louisiana. From the beginning whistle, both the teams and fans were raring for the occasion.

Centenary started the match on the front foot, which resulted in the opposing side scoring the first goal of the match in the 35th minute of the first half. Showing heart in an unfamiliar environment, the Blazers would respond as Brady Jacobs converted a penalty in the 55th minute, drawn by midfielder Ian Requilman

10 minutes later, Centenary would be awarded a penalty of their own, in which they converted to increase the score 2-1 in favor of the opposition. After 90 minutes, the late penalty proved to be the difference in a match that was truly up for grabs against a team that has yet to drop points at home.

"It's a tough one to take," Coach Gleddy states, "But we will keep our heads high and prepare for the match tomorrow."

Brady Jacobs has 3 goal contributions in as many games this season. The Blazers finished the match with 10 shots. Goalkeeper Max Rudolph had another strong outing as he recorded 4 saves on the night.

The Blazers will return to action in Shreveport, La. tomorrow at 12:00 pm as they will take on Schreiner University.
