Blazers Earn First Win of the Season

JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University men's soccer team (1-1-0) earned their first win of the season in a heated affair vs local NAIA rival, the Louisiana College Wildcats (4 -1- 0) by the score of 2-1.

In an open game that was filled with intensity on an inclement night, a couple moments of quality from Forward Dalton Morgan was ultimately the difference for the Blazers. In the 20th minute of the first half, Morgan blasted a 30 yard screamer into the top left corner of the net, which was assisted by Brady Jacobs

"It's always a great feeling when you win, especially at home." Morgan states, "I may have scored the goals, but this was an all-around team win in which we fully deserved the result."

Dalton Morgan would put the Blazers up by two goals just after the first half break as he slotted home a close finish, which was assisted by Brady Jacobs once again.

"We put in a good performance tonight." Morgan states, "We are happy to bounce back after a disappointing opening game in Montgomery."

Not only was this Battle at the Bowl the first win of the 2021 season, it was also Coach James Gledhill's first win as the official Belhaven Men's Soccer Coach.

"I am absolutely buzzing!" Said Coach Gledhill, "Happy for the players, staff, everyone involved with the program and everyone who was there tonight. Great way to get our first win of the season. Up the Blazers!"

Dalton Morgan bagged 2 goals on the night in his Man of the Match performance. Brady Jacobs picked up his first 2 assists of the season and Junior Goalkeeper Max Rudolph had a stellar performance, recording 5 saves and earning his first win of the season.

The Blazers will return to action on Friday, September 17th at 7:30 pm as the Blazers will take on Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana.
