RICHARDSON, Texas – The American Southwest Conference selected Belhaven University as the 2020-21 Athletic Training Staff of the Year. It was the first time the Blazer staff has won the award in program history.
The Belhaven Athletic Training staff was led by Head Athletic Trainer Maci Fox, who just completed her third year in Jackson, Miss. Belhaven also had three Assistant Athletic Trainers this past season, Katie Kyzar, Raymond Reimann and graduate assistant Brittany Hudson.
"I am so happy to learn that our Athletic Training staff was selected as ASC Staff of the Year," said Belhaven Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Little. "It's one thing to navigate a typical school year as a collegiate Athletic Trainer, but no one could have imagined a full year daily impacted by CoVID-19. Our student-athletes were so well served by Maci, Katie, Brittany and Raymond, along with the leadership from Beth Vansant. They'll have stories and lessons for a lifetime, and prayers that none of us ever have to do it that way again."
The Belhaven staff manages the day-to-day athletic training duties for all 17 athletic programs, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, assessment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The mission of the Belhaven University Athletic Training Department is to provide state-of-the-art healthcare services to Belhaven's student-athletes by using a comprehensive approach.?
The ASC Athletic Training Staff of the Year award is presented by the conference following vote of the athletic training directors. Full-time athletic trainers working at their institution for at least two years, licensed and in good standing with professional organizations are in consideration for the award.
