LOUISVILLE, Ky - For the second time this season, sophomore pitcher
Kennedy Carruth has been named the Wilson/NFCA Division III Pitcher of the Week. This is the fourth time this season that a member of the Belhaven University Softball team has earned national player of the week honors.
The St. Francisville, Louisiana native had two stellar performances for the Blazers in their series win over East Texas Baptist University. Carruth allowed two earned runs over 14 innings pitched on six hits and seven walks with eight strikeouts. In the Blazers 5-1 game one victory, Carruth allowed just two bunt singles with the first hit coming in the fifth inning, while allowing four hits in the Blazers 4-2 game three and series clinching victory.
On the season, Carruth has an 18-2 overall record with 15 complete games, three shutouts, and one save. Kennedy has allowed 30 runs, 19 earned over 120 innings pitched on 70 hits and 40 walks with 154 strikeouts. Opponents carry a batting average against of .164 when facing Carruth this season.

Carruth .and the rest of the Blazers will finish the 2021 regular season with a road series against ASC foe Louisiana College. The Blazers and Wildcats will start their with a single game on Friday, April 30, scheduled to start at 4 p.m., and end the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1, starting at 12 p.m.
