JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven baseball team picked up an extra innings walk-off win on Thursday over ETBU coming from behind to beat the Tigers 5-4 in 10 innings.
The visitors jumped out to an early lead against the Blazers striking for a run in the top of the first inning and a pair of runs in the top of the second. ETBU would tack on another run in the top of the 4th inning and led the Blazers 4-0 going to the home half of the frame.
In the bottom of the 4th the Blazers were able to get on the board. After
Trip Benson opened the frame with a single,
Evan Moore grounded into a fielder's choice which scored Benson from third base.
In the 5th inning the Blazers made a call to the bullpen bringing in
Harris Coleman. The right-hander was stellar in holding the Tigers scoreless and keeping the game at the 4-1 scoreline. In the bottom of the 8th Belhaven were able to fight back into the game. The scoring started when
Nick Lucido delivered an RBI base hit that plated
Kyle McLaughlin. Then, with two outs,
Nathan Herron found open grass in shallow center field with a base hit that scored two runs, including the tying run.
Coleman would continue his shutdown ways on the mound and got the Blazers to extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th inning the first two Blazers reached base and
Nick Lucido played the role of the hero with an RBI single to right field to walk it off for Belhaven.
On the day,
Harris Coleman picked up his first win of the season and faced the minimum in six innings of relief work. Coleman allowed just one hit and struck out seven out of the bullpen for Belhaven.
At the plate,
Nick Lucido finished 2-4 with a pair of RBI including the game-winner while
Trip Benson and
Nathan Herron also put together multi-hit performances.
